What “no payment methods available” really means
The message does not always mean the gateway is disabled. WooCommerce can hide methods when shipping zones do not match, the cart total is outside gateway limits, the currency is unsupported, Checkout Blocks cannot hydrate payment data, or a cache/plugin update changes checkout state.
Evidence to collect before changing settings
- Which payment methods were expected for this cart, country, currency and shipping zone.
- Whether classic checkout Ajax or Store API returns an empty payment-method list.
- Whether the same symptom appears across controlled carts or only one buyer segment.
- Whether a recent plugin, theme, cache or gateway update changed the checkout step.
- Whether the buyer can reach order confirmation after a method becomes visible again.
Privacy-first monitoring boundaries
A useful monitor does not need card numbers, payment tokens, shopper names, addresses or raw cart contents. It can record the expected gateway category, observed visibility state, technical response class, timestamp and recovery state.
How CashFlowCanary helps
CashFlowCanary checks the payment-method step as part of the checkout path and turns missing methods into an incident with filtered proof. The result helps merchants and agencies separate configuration mistakes from Store API, Checkout Blocks, gateway or regression problems.
